LATAM’s Santiago–Sydney service connects South America and Australia across a very lonely stretch of ocean, more than 11,000 kilometres of the South Pacific. Its story reaches back to 1974, when LAN-Chile undertook a transpolar expedition linking the two continents via Punta Arenas onboard a Boeing 707. Today, the route operates non-stop with the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
